I have 3 years experience working in a group home setting, mainly with lower functioning adults. The mail house I worked at had multiple adults that had autism as well as other disorders. My main duties were to ensure the safety of the residents. I was trained to administer medications as well and document and how to read their charts. I was responsible to be knowledgeable about each individuals records and specific needs that they may have. I also am trained to document daily activities and fallow emergency protocol. I was first aid certified however I would need to be recertified as it has expired. I have been responsible for planning meals, grocery shopping and preparing meals weekly. I Also Would take residents out on outings that they had planned in advance as well as Dr visits. This job was very rewarding. I enjoyed working with individuals, watching them grow and assisting them when needed, while giving encouragement and enough space to be as independent as possible.
