We know how to search and we know what to search for.
Now we need to teach you the art of searching for work online.
Please do not think all jobs are listed online. Even the big names do not post or publish all Help Wanted in the USA.
Not all employers are willing to pay and often times thinking to save a buck they post on free sites that have limitations.
There is no single perfect solution to the job search problem.
You should know what to expect and should limit your search and maximize your hunt for work in the following ways.
1. Make a list of the companies you would like to work for. 2. Search to see if those companies are hiring. Do this by visiting their website first. Then send their HR department a quick email asking if they hire direct or via a third party. Follow up with what you have learned every 5 days looking over what they are offering. This is still the best way to find work you would like to do. 3. Post your work profile to MnWorks.Net, CareerBuilder.Com, Monster.Com. You can also publish to GlassDoor.Com and Indeed.Com but we do not have valid success rates so it's unknown if they are effective in the HR search for employees realm. Be aware that most all staffing companies will use these sites to collect resumes for their portfolio, they are to ask your permission to use your resume as a promotional item to gather employers (their clients) but often times they will not tell you. They may ask you to reply to an email which makes their service your only lead into the business they are attempting to enter. Be aware that more and more foreign companies listing local US mailbox forwarding and local numbers may not be your answer. Then again, many staffing agencies setup in states that have Right to Work laws making it easier to replace you for any reason which can include pay rates. This and other information has been gather from years of job seeker experiences. 4. User local resources except those that repost closed jobs, list old out of date jobs, never delete profiles or jobs. Example, some state employment offices will republish closed jobs and say it's to allow the company that may have used the service once to be shown to job seekers. In other cases you'll be able to see limited information about a job in which they want you to sign up online at another job site. This often is used to fill the federal and state equal opportunity employment quota for the company. These experiences have been seen to happen more often with online posts. 5. DO NOT give your Social Security Number and DO NOT agree to be represented by a recruiting company until you have all the details of the job which include the company name, salary, working schedule and work duties clearly spelled out in print. You should not complete any W2 or I9 form until you have accepted the job.
Searching for jobs published by sponsors is straight forward.
Visit the jobs home page here and browse.
Or select a category that shows a number to the right indicating that their is a business member job post available.
You can also select a category and view some of the aggregate listed of jobs.
These are indexed jobs from other job sites and are not validated by MnWorks.Net but offer additional references for your job search.
Follow these simple steps from the Job Search menu.
Click the job search link to view our list of business member offerings.
Click a category to start your industry category keyword search.
Add Keywords to filter your search. It's a Match All, Any Order search.
Add your City to narrow the distance.
The process is designed on a typical job seeker searching 2 to 3 times per day.
It should not take you more than 5 minutes each visit.
You can increase your search by viewing or following the MnWorks.Net Twitter, Google + and Facebook streams. This is primarily designed for hiring companies but jobs are posted as well.
You will often find nothing in your search results. This is because we do our best to remove any and all closed job postings. Once a job has reached it's closing date the next view shuts the job details page down.
That really puts the hammer down on those sites that claim to have thousands and even millions of jobs when all you need is one.
