
Primary Responsibilities
1. Clean and stock overnight rooms
- Dispose of anything left in the room
- Clean/sanitize the room in its entirety, following the provided checklist
- Maintain an organized Staff Laundry Room while keeping up with washing dirty linens and putting away clean item
2. Clean and stock common areas and office areas of the facility
- Thoroughly clean and empty the trash, recycling, and composting in the kitchens, dining rooms, lounges, playrooms, restrooms, halls, gym, and stairwells on a regular basis so that high standards of cleanliness, health and safety are maintained for our families, donors, staff, and the general public
- Daily check and stock basic House supplies such as toilet paper, paper towels, cleaning supplies, etc. Communicate with supervisor ordering needs
3. Lead and supervise Room Refresher volunteers and volunteer groups as needed/scheduled
- Train and supervise designated Room Refresher Volunteers
- Provide supervision and activities for group volunteers
Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position. Hours of work are generally 9:00 am to 5:00 pm Monday through Friday but may include some evenings and weekends as required.
Preferred Education and Experience
- High School graduate
- Two to four years of experience cleaning in residential and/or commercial facilities

- Ability to relate to people of diverse backgrounds
- Willing to take on new tasks and learn new skills
- Ability to work with larger groups of people and to assign tasks to those in the group
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
- Takes initiative, perseveres and has high tolerance for multi-tasking and interruptions
- Works well as a team player and provides excellent customer service to families, staff, donors, and the general public
- Positive, enthusiastic, self-starter who demonstrates the highest standards of integrity
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Maintain professional boundaries and self-care in an emotionally difficult position
- Compassion and the ability to work with families facing a health crisis or loss of a child
Physical Requirements
- Frequently load and unload carts, stock shelves in the laundry and pantry, strip beds and remove laundry, and take out trash weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Perform cleaning tasks such as vacuuming, sweeping, mopping and cleaning the kitchen
Major Challenges
- Maintaining professional boundaries, confidentiality, and self-care in an emotionally difficult position
- As an onsite employee, limit potential exposure to COVID-19
