PRIMARY PURPOSE

The SNAP Employment and Training Coordinator is a part of the Anokiiwin initiative. Anokiiwin provides comprehensive services, information and resources that enable and empower program participants to take active responsibility for their place and purpose in the community. The Anokiiwin Initiative is a fluid program of mixed services that supports transformation through career exploration and job search, career pathway planning, educational attainment, identification of work related strengths, interests, enhancing job search skills and capacity to express the relevance of strengths to employers and fostering relationships with the employer community.

Northwest Indian Community Development Center (Aazhoomon) is growing and is seeking to fill the role of the SNAP Employment and Training Coordinator position. The SNAP E & T Coordinator guides program participants to gain skills in in-demand employment fields. The coordinator in this position is a collaborative mentor for members as they participate in training and support services to help them enter the workforce or increase their skillset.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

[if !supportLists] &bull [endif] Develop and maintain processes to recruit, enroll, and track SNAP recipients within Beltrami County to co-enroll in SNAP Employment and Training Opportunities

[if !supportLists] &bull [endif] Connect with members to assess current goals and progress, research, coordinate and facilitate trainings, and provide resources and employment opportunities

[if !supportLists] &bull [endif] Daily record keeping of the stories, progress, and supportive services of our members which includes entering in data into an online system, keeping records of members achievements and progression in the program and SNAP eligibility information

[if !supportLists] &bull [endif] Create, maintain and nurture internal and external partnerships to strengthen the availability of tools and resources for SNAP member to access employment

[if !supportLists] &bull [endif] Remain accountable to our members by maintaining confidentiality

SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE/REQUIREMENTS

[if !supportLists] &bull [endif] Bachelor&rsquos degree and relevant work experience preferred

[if !supportLists] &bull [endif] An Associate&rsquos degree and 1-2 years&rsquo experience in workforce development preferred

[if !supportLists] &bull [endif] In lieu of workforce development experience, 1-2 years&rsquo experience in non-profit or other human services field will be considered

[if !supportLists] &bull [endif] Must have a driver&rsquos license and insurance

[if !supportLists] &bull [endif] Must be able to pass a criminal background check and drug screen

[if !supportLists] &bull [endif] Experienced computer skills in data reporting and tracking system

[if !supportLists] &bull [endif] Ability to lead virtual and in-person group and individual trainings on topics related to workforce development and work readiness

[if !supportLists] &bull [endif] Experience working with community members in a mentorship/case management capacity

[if !supportLists] &bull [endif] Knowledge of community resources that support members in entering and retaining employment

[if !supportLists] &bull [endif] Ability to actively listen and communicate with diverse groups including community members, employers and training providers

[if !supportLists] &bull [endif] Ability to work professionally and cooperatively as member of a team

[if !supportLists] &bull [endif] Ability to work independently and follow-through on assigned tasks

[if !supportLists] &bull [endif] Ability to problem-solve, make decisions, and manage conflict

[if !supportLists] &bull [endif] Must be able to perform job duties following NWICDC&rsquos mission and vision statements

[if !supportLists] &bull [endif] Demonstration of an understanding, appreciation and awareness of the Anishinaabe and Native American cultural, social and economic diversity within the community being served

[if !supportLists] &bull [endif] Cultural sensitivity knowledge of Anishinaabe worldviews and values or the willingness to learn and incorporate into practice
