The Developers Corner is back up and taking suggestions.
The last time we asked you all questions we had so much feedback our team of developers spent the better part of a month sorting over everything and adding things to the site.
We want you to use the Comments box at the bottom of this page to send us your suggestions.
We will repost your suggestion so others can read it and offer their suggestions as well. As a group we should be able to create some great tools and features.
Please offer suggestions that might help the group.
MnWorks Developers Notes
May 7, 2011: We just finished our first quarterly update of both MnWorks.Net and MnWorks.Jobs. The only differences are State Job Search and location of your resume. Everything else is the same. If you need to expand your search area to anywhere in the USA it would be a good idea to upload your resume to both sites and select US as your state. We will be adding state grouping soon so you can have your work experience published in more than one state.
New RSS Feed layouts which will help those that use our RSS feeds on mobile devices. We have seen iPhone users linking to the new format hundreds of times each day. It is a very good way to keep up with our direct hire posts and our work experience posts if you are a business or hiring agent.
HARD AS NAILS Work and Job Posting. Yes, we had to really nail down our posting sections to make sure you are putting in enough information. We didn't dream up our fields of information overnight. The majority of ideas came from all of our members. You might not like it but we like the fact that those posting correctly are actually being found even in Goolge searches for jobs and work. If we said "It's for your own good" would you believe us? (It is.) Our next update will be using information from your more detailed job posts and work experience posts to search other locations for matches. This will give you time to update and add more work experience.
Several other updates to correct layout from IE6 to IE9. Firefox corrections and a few more. We are working on our mobile device sections which should offer some very fast searching from your iPad, iPhone or Blackberry style devices.
April, 21 2011: Added 5,10 and 15 day's for job posts. This windows is narrow which is why we added a spotlight location in the web page header. Also all employer posts are displayed while job seekers are browsing.
Interactive Help is on it's way! Well it's not really 100% interactive because that would require someone to be online working interactively with you. Our new Video Help section will offer... You guessed it, Videos to help you use our site. Each video will have a questions and comments section which we will respond and post to. This is the Interactive part. To date all video and training is being offered by our development team. This takes time and is slow so we are asking our members if you know how to make a great video presentation and feel like helping others you can submit your "How To" video. Applications are more of a social and community development, everyone of your best social networking sites have grown directly from members ideas, suggestions and, Video Help files! (Please make them in wmv or mp4 formats. We will give you credit for your production maybe even a gold star.
Our Ask, We Answer! application has really been a helpful tool for our Mentors that seemed to spend more time answering the same questions over and over. Now that we have a Help section designed to display questions and answers based on the page you are visiting our mentors can relax a bit more. Members should post questions to our Ask and Answered section only after they login and return to the page where you have questions. Do not post questions about specific jobs.
Development has started for our new Video Interview Section. This suggestion was received from an HR department that hires remote office workers. We currently offer video uploads which will be linked to our video interview section. Employers will be able to ask or submit questions to job seekers which job seekers will have the opportunity to create a singled side video interview response. This also is a process found in some of our larger corporations looking to promote or hire within. More details will be posted as development continues.
Application and Site Issues Reported:
Start of Bug List
Corrected Dec 1, 4:00pm Nov. 15 to Dec. 1 we noticed our membership application process was not updating our master membership list. This issue has been noted and corrections are underway.
Corrected Dec. 1, 4:00pm XCtM Anti Spam Filtering System blocks proxy connections.
The XCtM Spam Defender offers us great features. We use this blocking system to keep out spammers which would typically enter and email each of our members offers not wanted or desired. Our system was adjusted to allow some types of proxy connections but not all. If you know your company or school uses a proxy connection please email us using the form found near the bottom of this page your company or schools name and information. We will be adjusting the security levels over time if we notice any trends forming by spammers.
End of Bug List.
Development of our job spider search indexing script is now in it's second beta testing phase. The search section will be indexing the top 25 to 50 new job posts from a large number of reporting agencies. We are also setting up a "Submit a Job" feature for companies that have job and career pages in their company websites. This will help job seekers find new posts faster and reduce the posting time for employers.
Internal Messaging has been setup so employers and job seekers can send a quick note of "Interest". We encourage employers to download submitted resume links and review the job seekers work experience.
Resume links are not available to employers that login. Employers can not view uploaded resumes linked from our job seekers work experience posts.
Job Seekers Work Experience pages have been updated to link additional work experience posts and a single resume. Job seekers must create at least one work experience post to have their resume link viewable.
Resume Upload and supporting document uploads are now available for employers and job seekers.
View Job Details for internal posts now offers direct apply company link if supplied by hiring company.
LinkedIn users are offered link backs to their LinkedIn Profile pages. This feature can also be used to display supporting work experience documents via the job seekers private website or social networking site. (Please do not link your facebook or twitter accounts.)

Using the form below you are encouraged to submit suggestions to our development team. We receive many good suggestions and work on development the applications related to the suggestion.
Our development team is not a cookie cutter group. Most are programmers and database managers that offer their time to create applications for MnWorks. We even challenge our team to be creative and develop things no other site offers.
With a no boundaries attitude in our development we can and will do more to help employers and job seekers complete their goals.
